May 2026 Case of the Month – US mixed case

$297.90

Old World Hands, New World Soil

Six American wines crafted in the spirit of European tradition with New World sensibility and style. Don’t miss this unique look into West Coast viticulture.

The Wines (1 x bottles of each)

Continuum Sentium Sauvignon Blanc 2023

The Mondavi family’s fourth-generation project, led by Chiara Mondavi from old-vine Mendocino fruit. Some vineyards planted in the 1940s, all organically farmed by family growers. Stainless steel, concrete, and large neutral oak, ten months on the lees. Meyer lemon, crushed stone, a long saline finish. Loire in spirit, Mendocino in soil.

Cristom Jessie Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon. The Gerrie family named every vineyard at Cristom after a matriarch, and Jessie is one of the original blocks. Whole-cluster fermentation, native yeast, basalt soils. The kind of Willamette Pinot that earned the region its reputation.

Matthiasson Linda Vista Vineyard Chardonnay 2023

Steve Matthiasson is one of Napa’s most respected viticulturists, named San Francisco Chronicle’s Winemaker of the Year in 2014. He farms Linda Vista himself with his wife Jill, in the cool southern end of Oak Knoll. We tasted through the portfolio with Jill last fall and the Linda Vista stopped us cold. Crisp, salty, restrained Chardonnay from a property that knows what it is.

Othello Napa Valley Cabernet 2016

Christian Moueix runs Château Pétrus in Pomerol. He also bought the historic Napanook vineyard in Yountville in 1982 and made it Dominus. Othello is his entry point into the family: same hand, same soil, ready earlier. A 2016 on the shelf in 2026 is unusual. One of Napa’s great recent vintages, ten years on.

Failla ‘Ferrington’ Anderson ValleyPinot Noir 2022

Ehren Jordan made the wines at Turley for fifteen years before starting Failla with his wife Anne-Marie. Ferrington Vineyard sits in Anderson Valley, the cold, foggy elbow of Mendocino. Old vines, ocean influence, native yeast. Dark cherry, blood orange, forest floor.

Arnot-Roberts Sonoma Coast Syrah 2022

Duncan Meyers and Nathan Roberts grew up together in Napa and started making wine in a barn. They were working with cool sites, early picking, and whole-cluster Syrah while the rest of California was going the other way. The Sonoma Coast bottling is their entry point. Black pepper, cured meat, violets.
