Madame de Beaucaillou Haut-Medoc 2019

Bruno Borie of Ducru-Beaucaillou makes Madame de Beaucaillou in tribute to his mother, from Haut-Medoc fruit. The 2019 vintage was outstanding across the Left Bank. Dark plum, cassis and mocha with supple tannins. Everyday claret from an aristocratic kitchen.

We bought this en primeur in 2019 and held it for a couple of years to let it open up. 2019 is our vintage of choice after 2015 and 2016: freshness and ripeness in the same glass, and right now it is perfect for Haut-Médoc. Ripe cassis and black plum, cedar, graphite, a fine dusting of tannin, and a finish with real Médoc precision.

Open and accessible tonight, and happy in the cellar for another decade.
