Lucien Crochet Sancerre Blanc 2023

We have had our eye on Sancerre producer Lucien Crochet for some time now, and felt this year was the perfect time to add a new Sancerre producer to our portfolio. At the current stage of the meteoric growth of Sancerre wines, the region has almost become a brand. Any bottle with the word Sancerre on it seems to just fly off the rack. In general, we can look to Sancerre as a subtle and easy to drink expression of Sauvignon Blanc, but beneath the surface, each producer is a unique lens to look at the region and the work they put in at both the vineyard and winery levels. There are levels to the game, and 2024 vintage will put that on full display for everyone to see.

Our focus has always been family owned, high quality vineyards, and Lucien Crochet ticks the box. The town of Bué, where they are located, is also home to Vincent Pinard (also in our portfolio) and the level of quality from both these producers is extremely high. What we love about Crochet is the crunchiness and lemon-lime citrus aspects in their wines. This is textbook perfect Sancerre that comes in at a fair price, which is getting harder and harder to find in the region.
