Description
Il Palazzino is a small, traditional Gaiole estate whose Grosso Sanese has been one of Chianti Classico’s cult wines for decades. The Stagi is their varietal Sangiovese from a specific parcel — the 2016 shows what a great Chianti vintage delivers: sour cherry, tobacco, dried rose and iron with a structured, age-worthy finish. Drinking beautifully now.
94 points, Vinous – “The 2016 Stagi is the last release of what was a tremendous vintage for Il Palazzino. Dark and potent in the glass, with tons of richness, the Stagi offers up notable density and pure power. Black cherry, plum, gravel, game, licorice, spice and tobacco build into the substantial finish. The 2016 is beautifully done.”
