Cannolicchio di Sopra is one of our favorite producers of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. This fine producer has been an important part of the history of Montalcino winemaking for the last 50 years, and today is run by the gifted Francesco Ripaccioli whose parents first decided to estate-bottle as far back as 1966. Canalicchio’s Rosso is the perfect entry point and essentially the calling card for the estate’s Brunello di Montalcino offering purity and elegance in a deliciously approachable style. It’s incredibly well-made and a lovely expression of the appellation – polished, fleshy and plush with a core of ripe red fruits, firm, savory tannins, and bright, mouthwatering freshness.
