Five G4 expressions in stock this week. That almost never happens.

Felipe Camarena and his sons Luis Felipe and Alan are the fourth generation of Camarenas making tequila. The family has been at it in Los Altos de Jalisco since 1937, and Felipe’s brother Carlos still runs the original distillery, La Alteña.

In 2007, Felipe started building his own place on family land in Jesús María. He named it El Pandillo, after his grandfather’s favorite bull. Civil engineer by training, he built much of the equipment himself, including a mechanical tahona he calls Frankenstein, fashioned from a junkyard steamroller.

Estate grown agave. Harvested rainwater. Stone ovens. Copper pot stills. Grandfather’s yeast in pine wood fermenters.

Tequila people know G4. Most everyone else hasn’t tasted it because it doesn’t move through normal channels. We were lucky enough to get straight to the source.
